KCWPA Projects
Projects 1979-2011
Over the history of the Kiwanis Conference of Western PA, we have contributed over $650,000 to the Western PA School for Blind Children. The following is a list of the major projects over the past thirty years.
| 1979-1989 | Porte Cohere Project, $250,000 over ten years |
| 1990-1991 | General Fund donation, $20,000 |
| 1992-1996 | Two wheelchair equipped vans, project cost $70,000. Vans are used to transport students to doctor visits and field trips as well as transport to and from home. |
| 1997 | Fifty Project, $20,000 used as seed money for a program to help blind children in the first five years of life. |
| 1998 |
Food preparation suite project, $25,000, students learn to cook and find their way around the kitchen. |
| 1999-2006 | Renovation of the gym and library project, $150,000 over seven years. |
| 2007 | E-FIX System project, $15,500, a remote control to help young children learn to operate motorized wheelchairs |
| 2008 | Speaker system project, $10,000 to equip the multipurpose room with a permanent speaker and lighting system. |
| 2009 | Print and copy shop project, $10,000, to start this new activity which will provide the School with printing services and the students with vocational training. |
| 2010 | Our donationof $10,000 this year purchased a banner making machine for the copy shop and began a multi-year project to refurbish the bowling alleys. |
| 2011 |
This year's $10,000 contribution continued the multi-year project to refurbish the bowling alleys. Also in 2011 the Pennsylvania Kiwanis Foundation contributed a $15,000 matching grant towards the bowling alley project. |
